So I’m thinking, if the offline businesses are starting their promotions now, why not us, the online guys? Eh, are lightbulbs going off in your head yet? See the idea is to put out your ad now, flash it about and get people (read: potential customers) to start thinking about, and hopefully even buy, your product or service.
You know as well as I do that advertising is all about repetition. You want to get your ads out there and start drumming it repeatedly into people’s heads.
So when Christmas creeps around the corner and the crowds get thicker and the shopping gets crazier, people are going to remember seeing your ad, and think, heck, I'm not going to bother with the mad rush, I'll just pop by this website I saw earlier and grab it online.
See, if you do your homework now, you get a headstart. When Christmas rolls around, all you have to do is give your ad one last push (read: send out a reminder) and you’re ready for the sales to roll in. You're not out there five-deep in that crowd of advertisers jostling to get their ads out for the first or second time!
